This is a special event where part of the proceeds will be shared with the Hudson Hot Air Balloon Affair. This year’s theme, ““Balloon’n Up Nort’ Yah Sure You Betcha” inspired us to explore different ways to make a great midwest hotdish.
Hotdish, the unofficial state cuisine is a comfort food staple.
Hotdish is an anything goes one-dish meal and is especially beloved in Minnesota, Wisconsin and North Dakota. Nobody does hotdish like the upper Midwest where we’ve learned the fundamentals include tatertots, canned soup and hamburger .
A creamy sauce binds three essential hotdish components together: starch, protein, and vegetable. It can grace any table and commonly appears at family reunions and church suppers. If you sit down to something that doesn’t look like anything you’ve ever seen before, it’s probably hotdish.”
Join the fun as Terry John Zila and his sidekick “Lena” teach you how to make traditional “hotdish ” dontcha know. Chances are pretty good you will learn more from this session than just making a good hotdish for the next church supper.
You will learn how to make ;
- Tatertot Hotdish w/ Filet Mignon and Shitake Mushrooms
- Roasted Chicken Cauliflower Farmer Cheese and Fettuccine Gratin
- Green Bean Hotdish… (a “must have ” in hotdish heaven )
- Catalan Eggplant Gratin
