In this hands-on 2 ½ hour class, Intro to Indian Food, instructor Jessica Tijerina will guide you through
several recipes which you will prepare and enjoy together.
We will begin with a Garam Masala which translates to “hot mixture of spices” and is an essential ingredient
in many Indian dishes.
A Saffron Rice, which is boiled and then baked and will accompany the main dishes.
A Raita, to cool the palate made with yogurt, fresh herbs and cucumber, also to accompany the main dishes.
Using the spice mixture, you created, a Garam Masala Chicken dish is prepared as well as a more popular
dish Tikka Masala and we finish with a Mango Lassi drink!

Jessica Tijerina is a Culinary Educator, teaching cooking classes throughout the Twin Cities such as The Abundant Kitchen in Buffalo, MN and Nordic Ware in St. Louis Park, MN, but her main focus is to teach you in the comfort of your own home with friends and family.
Her passion is in Global and Ethnic Cuisine.
She helps to organize and facilitate festival kitchens such as Garlic Fest and the Home & Garden Show.
She has published articles in the quarterly culinary magazine Café Tecumseh.
She is a consultant for local restaurants and is currently working on developing the menu for a dog park bar & grill in Minneapolis called Unleashed Hounds & Hops which is set to open this winter.
She shares her knowledge and love for food to anyone who will listen.
