About the Class: In this class, you will learn about and make soft dough batters from scratch. You will learn the reasons for using each basic ingredient in any bread (flour, liquid, leavening, fat sugar, salt ) and know how people that create recipes decide on the amount of each ingredient to use.
Skills that will be taught : As it pertains to each subject matter, Reading recipes, weighing and measuring, proper use of knives, kitchen appliances and tools, mixing, kneading.
Class size will be limited to 8 as this is entirely a “hands on ” learning class.
About the Instructor : Ann Rosenthal is a Registered Dietitian, Nutritionist, Mom and Grandmother. She loves to cook and eat (especially with kids !) and has taught food science, nutrition and cooking to people of all ages and stages in many places form any years. She is a firm believer in whole foods, simple prepared.
IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE YOU COME TO CLASS:
- Parents are welcome to stay or free to leave, but will not be permitted to participate in the class or assist with cooking or eating. Children will be released after class to a parent or designated guardian that will be required to come into the store.
- Children should arrive for class with hair tied back and/or under a cap.
- We will read and explain class rules together before class begins and students will sign their copy of these rules. Students that are unable to follow these rules will be asked to sit down and wait for a parent/guardian to pick them up.
